Well, the time has come to replace the pollen filter in my 2001 Galaxy.

I've printed out Seatkid's guide and polished my toolbox, but now need to buy the item.

can I only buy from Ford, or is there a cheaper place to buy from.

Cheers

about 5-8 pounds is average, buying throught the post can lead to one flattened filter unless the seller really packs it well, even then it dont stop the posties throwing parcels around and putting heavy things on top.

i never did it though when i was a posty many years ago.

Thats if you can get the militant bu99ers to work in the first place.

i find its easier to whizz the wiper arms, black scuttle-panel trim off. 3 x 10mm bolts get the surfboard out from the bulkhead (p.s say hello to brake master cylinder as well) so easier access and wrestle the b******d out from behind the wiper motor.

put new filter in plastic holder with duct tape at each end. as you go behind the motor, simply twist the plastic holder with filter taped in place. lads who work for liverpool vw/peoples ford sometimes drop the motor out also.

while the surfboard is out, its a good time to consider the brake fluid change and check a small black neoprene hose that keeps falling off the boost control valve? i glued mine in place.

I worked for Royal Mail Parcels as a temp one Xmas and part of our job involved sorting sacks of parcels into international regions. It went like this:

  • Sorters stand in the middle of big room next to piles of sacks full of parcels
  • A semi-circle of 6-ft tall cages is arranged about 10 ft away
  • Sorters decide which cage the parcel belongs in and throw it in - from 10ft away, over a 6ft cage wall!

Stuff like china and bottles of whisky etc stood no chance, regardless of the packing. I was pretty horrified, especially as most of it was presents from people in the UK going to their overseas relatives. Since then I've always parcelled things up really carefully

This was back in the late 1980s so maybe things have improved since then...

Yes they only throw them from 6ft away now as it was a health and safety issue regarding damage to their backs ;) :o

Not to forget to vacuum any leaves and debris out from around the drainage holes in the corners
